about
There have been a series of moments that have led me here, sitting at my computer, trying to explain to you, my (hopefully) customer, who I am and why I'm making these quilts and pillows. Some are nebulous, like how I somehow developed a love of Islamic Geometry when I was a child even though I am a non-muslim girl from Seattle whose parents collected Inuit art. Other moments are much more concrete, like when I took a Sacred Geometry class in art school that unlocked the mysteries of many traditional Islamic patterns using just a compass and straight-edge. Or when I traveled to Rajasthan and my brain exploded and my heart swelled and my imagination buzzed.
All of these moments set the scene for years later, when I left interior architecture; had kids; had time to explore and experiment; and eventually narrowed in on what I want to make, which is the same thing as I what I want to do, which is the same thing as who I want to be. For now, I'm making everything by myself in my Oakland studio, with my own ink-stained calloused fingers. Please email me with any feedback, advice or suggestions and thank you for your time and consideration.

Questions?
How do I care for my quilt/cushion cover?
Everything I sell has been put through the washer (and dryer) so I know that it can be machine washed and dried. However, between the block-printing and hand-stitching, your quilt/cushion cover will survive for much longer and in much better condition if it is hand washed and laid flat to dry. If you must machine wash, wash it cold on the gentle cycle, with a mild detergent. Dry cleaning is always a safe bet.
I really like one of your quilts but it's been sold...
Thank you! Send me an email and I can let you know what my production schedule is like and if I am able to recreate the quilt.
I really like one of your quilts but the color or size is wrong...
I am always open to custom collaborations. Email me with a sense of what you would like and we can see if we can figure it out. Some customization is really easy (color changes) some is more difficult (can you turn that into a California King?) but I'm open to dialogue.
How do I learn more about Islamic Geometry?
Out of my library, the resource I return to repeatedly is Eric Broug's Islamic Geometric Design. For learning the construction and how to begin to dissect and create patterns the right way, this book has been indispensable. I also frequently consult David Sutton's Islamic Design: A Genius for Geometry, Henri Stierlin's Islam: From Baghdad to Cordoba, and Stierlin's Islamic Art and Architecture: From Isfahan to the Taj Mahal (although the Engilsh translation is pretty bad and could have used a better copy-editor).
